Today the total figure of persons affected by thalidomide is estimated to be somewhere between 8,000 and 9,000 scattered all over the globe. This web-site is a modest attempt to create an atmosphere of understanding throughout the whole Thalidomide community.

Do you want to help us weave an intercontinental thalidomide web that will be more and more fine-meshed?
In many countries there live just a few Thalidomide's, isolated from each other and with no contact with others. This is a chance for them (and for all Thalidomide's) to get new inputs, learn to know new friends, and discuss topics of mutual interest. For instance; here in Sweden there is just one single Thalidomide who was born blind. He would love to get in touch with other fellow Thalidomide's with the same disability.
Are you Thalidomide? Do you know Thalidomide? Are you a relative of Thalidomide? Do you get in touch with Thalidomide's through your profession; as a physician, nurse, occupational-therapist, etc?

At this point we know there existed Thalidomide's in countries like Italy, Taiwan, Austria, Finland, South
Africa, Belgium, Spain, Costa Rica, Portugal, Switzerland, but we do not have anyone to contact.
Only good things will come out of it
Right now, no one really knows what will come out of this call for long-lost Thalidomide-friends. But one thing is for sure; it is only good things that will emerge at the horizon. And who knows? Perhaps we can launch a gathering, like the Thalidomide Convention in Sweden in 1995 with participants from Asia, Australia , Europe and North-America.
