Car allowance

For many of our members, the car is their most important aid. To be granted car allowance means that an individual can receive financial support from the government e.g., for the purchase and/or adaptation of a car.

FfdN works to ensure that the regulations on car allowance give people with reduced mobilities the opportunity to purchase and adapt their cars without incurring unreasonable costs. The regulations concerning car allowance must not be eroded by transferring more and more costs to the individual. We want the law to change so that people can apply for car allowance when they are over the age of 65.

You can apply for car allowance via the Swedish Social Insurance Agency (Försäkringskassan).

Parking card for people with disabilities

It has become increasingly difficult to obtain parking cards for people with reduced mobility. It is especially difficult for people with arm deficiencies. FfdN works to ensure that people with arm deficiencies are considered to have such difficulties with mobilities that they are entitled to a parking card for people with reduced mobility.

You apply for a parking card for people with disabilities via your municipality.

Help and support

All people want to manage their daily needs on their own, if possible. If an individual's disability makes it impossible to cope on their own, the state and/or municipality need to provide sufficient support. Unfortunately, it is not that simple. Many people with great needs are without help from the government or their municipality or have had their help greatly reduced even though their needs have not changed. FfdN works to ensure that our members have the right to personal assistance, accompanying person and other help they need to be able to live a rich and fulfilling life.

You apply for various aids via the Swedish Social Insurance Agency or via your municipality.

Further disability policy issues and commitments

In addition to the above, FfdN works with various issues that affect our members lives. We are i.a. represented in the National Agency for Education's consultation for disability organizations and we have been part of the reference group for disability organizations prior to the establishment of the Institute for Human Rights.
